Bye Bye Ombre! New Hair Color Trend for 2015

sofiaWhile ultra vibrant hair and dramatic ombre ruled 2014, we’re starting to see a shift in the hair forecast. As we step into 2015 we’re beginning to see a more natural trend in hair. The leading force toward this minimal vibe: balayage, increasingly popular highlighting technique that mimic those sunkissed highlights you got as a kid. And now, piggybacking off balayage, we’re seeing another similar, albeit darker, smoother technique that we’re sure is about to go mane-stream called ecaille ( “tortoiseshell” in French).

The ecaille technique is a slightly richer and darker version of your natural color paired with golden highlights and a whole lot of shine. The look, which began trending in Paris, tends to also be darker at the roots and lighter at the ends – consider it a much more sophisticated version of the ombre we know. Pop some balayage highlights on top of this rich shade and and a gloss to keep it rich, and you’ve got this multidimensional, demure look. Read More

Ombre Hair Color

Arin

I know, I know, I am writing about my client’s hair color two times in the row. But lately I’ve been on the roll and wanted to share with you all the fun I’ve been having at work doing all kinds of hair transformations. This time I took Arin’s hair from a virgin brunette into a full-on ombre. It took three full hours from start to finish to achieve this gorgeous look. Arin was flying to Turks & Caicos the following morning for a much needed vacation, and my job was to get her hair -paradise ready. Sometimes sunshine, bikini and ombre-beach hair is all a girl needs to feel amazing. She sure looks beautiful!

Hair Color Transformation

www.ilonashine.comMy client and a good friend Elena came to me with dark brown hair and a desire to go blond. I couldn’t agree more, she was born to be a blonde!  I knew that in order to go lighter I had to lighten her hair gradually (3 appointments to be exact) thus minimizing damage to her hair and her mental state. Yes, I know to some people changing hair color can be a bit of a shocker but not in this case. My anti-aging philosophy has always been simple: “Clean-tan-free skin, lighter hair and clean make-up will take years off anyone wanting to look a little younger”. With this in mind I went to work to create a refreshed version of Elena. As you can see, the end result was well worth the wait. Very Pretty!!!

Would You Make a Good Blonde?

www.google.comDid you see the Golden Globes? So then you know that blonde hair remains the most popular hair color in America. So many shades of blonde! Most women with blonde hair are actually not naturally blonde. And even if they are, with age hair tends to darken to at least a dishwater or dirty blonde. I try to think outside the box and believe that anyone can go blonde. From allover blonde or “platinum” to a “bronde” – a heavily highlighted brunette. But only a masterful colorist can determine how much blonde you can handle and what particular tone will look good on you.
If you’re thinking of taking the plunge and going blonde, consider all the options to make sure you’ll look good as a blonde. Here’s how to tell if you will. Read More
