www.ilonashine.comOdds are when you think of apple cider vinegar you think of an all-purpose household cleaner or something that you would mix into your salad dressing, but it actually has a slew of benefits if you drink it or put it on your skin. I have never done a post devoted solely to this magic elixir..until now. Lately I have been hearing more and more about the benefits of this stuff and I have made a decision to write about this magic potion. Before I get started let me emphasize that in order to get the benefits (raw enzymes and gut-friendly bacteria), you’ll need to use raw organic apple cider vinegar. Clear vinegar is processed and does not have any of the benefits of raw ACV. I will talk about Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar, which you can find at your local grocery store. So here are top 10 health and beauty benefits of natural apple cider vinegar.

1. It works wonders if you have food poisoning!

All you need is a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water. The reason it works so well is that it has an acid in it, malic acid, that binds to toxins allowing your to body eliminate them more readily. This is also why Apple Cider Vinegar is commonly used when people are suffering from digestive issues.

2. It can remove stains from teeth and kill bad breath

Gargle with apple cider vinegar in the morning. The vinegar helps remove stains, whiten teeth, and kill bacteria in your mouth and gums. Brush as usual after you gargle.

3. It soothes Your Body

Apple cider vinegar can also be mixed with epsom salts in your bath to help sooth your body especially useful after sunburns.

4. Naturally regulates the pH of your skin

Dilute ACV with two parts water, and spread the concoction over your face with a cotton ball to replace your current toner. You can do this at night after washing, and in the morning before you apply your moisturizer. A dab of apple cider vinegar can also be left on the skin overnight to fade age spots or acne scars.

5. It can help your body get rid of candida

This vinegar is rich in natural enzymes that can help rid your body of candida yeasts that are attributed to thrush in humans. Candida also is blamed for creating symptoms of fatigue, poor memory, sugar cravings, and yeast infections.

6. Apple Cider is great for your lymphatic system

This miracle vinegar helps to break up mucous throughout the body and cleanse the lymph nodes. Believe it or not, research suggests that apple cider vinegar can help with allergies because of its ability to reduce mucous and sinus congestion. When reducing the effects of allergies, it can also help stave off sinus infections and their related symptoms, such as sore throats and headaches.

7. It can help you reduce heartburn

Though it might seem like an oxymoron to treat stomach acid with an acid-containing vinegar, there is research suggesting that apple cider vinegar works by correcting low acid, hence reducing heartburn. Natural remedy experts say you should begin to feel relief very shortly after taking a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar followed by a glass of water. Note that apple cider vinegar will not give relief if you have an ulcer.

8. ACV kills foot or skin fungus

Just as ACV can help kill Candida in the body, it is often useful against yeast and fungus on the skin and nails. If you have foot or toe fungus, soak the feet in 1 cup of ACV in water or apply directly to the affected area. For skin fungus or yeast, apply apple cider vinegar directly. For children or those with sensitive skin, it is best to dilute the ACV with water before applying to the skin.

9. It removes Warts

Try placing a cotton pad soaked in apple cider vinegar on top, then secure with a bandage. Leave on overnight and remove in the morning. If you stick to this consistently for a week, you should start to see results.

10. It can make your Hair Shine

Lastly it can work as a complement to your haircare routine. Apple cider vinegar can be used as a rinse for your hair after shampooing. I recommend recycling an old shampoo bottle, then filling it with 1/2 a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a cup of warm water. Pour the solution through your hair after shampooing several times a week for dramatic results. This should help strengthen and add shine to your hair. Not bad for a product that retails for less than $5!
